Private Air Park Renovation

With this project the owner wanted to seamlessly blend the authentic southwest charm of rough hewn wood finishes and Mexican tile, found in the original home, into a 2 story addition and detached guest house. The 2 story addition consisted of a guest suite, library / music room, work area with computer and storage cabinets, a large master suite with private sitting / TV area, a closet the size of most 2nd bedrooms, and authentic Saltillo and Mexican Talevera tile in a large bath. The master suite is on the 2nd floor so the views over the top of the mesquites are wide open. And for views… if being off the desert floor 12 feet is not enough a spiral staircase goes from the 2nd story porch up through the roof to a deck above. The views of the Santa Catalina Mountain’s Pusch Ridge are spectacular. The 2nd story exterior porch surface was custom mesquite flooring that’s been allowed to weather naturally. The detached guest house with a 3 car garage and workspace that housed several nice cars consisted of a living room kitchenette, bedroom, bath, and laundry. Extensive landscape that included a new tennis court, pool, spa, shade screens, and a Kiva fireplace covered the 5 acre parcel. A 500 gallon fuel tank was added out by the original hanger and a 5’ stuccoed masonry wall was built around the perimeter to finalize privacy and the feeling of a compound.
